Visit "the beach" on Phi Phi Leh, Thailand

The Beach by is about a few young travellers who drop out of society and go to live in a hidden lagoon in Southern Thailand. Turns out that hidden lagoon actually exists in a small archipelago off the coast of Phuket in the Krabi province on an Island called Koh Phi Phi Leh. The lagoon itself, called "Maya Bay" is relatively easy to get to "in theory". The reason I say "in theory", is that even though a number of tour companies offer day trips to the Phi Phi islands, it can be extremely difficult to actually manuever a speedboat into the lagoon due to the VERY rough tides. We were warned MANY times by our guide that it might not be possible to get there and we would "have to see how the weather is holding up" once we got to the main island, Phi Phi Don. Luckily for us, the weather held up fine getting in, and we were able to visit the most beautiful place I have ever laid eyes upon. Now, while the boat ride back out against the tides was one of our LEAST favorite things while in Thailand, getting to swim on "the beach" was incredible, and I'm so glad we were lucky enough to do it.
